The Blue Springs South girls swimming and diving team claimed just one win but coach Errich Oberlander was happy with his team’s performance against state power Park Hill South.
The Jaguars fell 204-11 to the Panthers Tuesday at the Blue Springs Family YMCA.
Maelyn MacLean claimed the Jaguars’ lone win, prevailing in the 500-yard freestyle in 6 minutes, 5.64 seconds. She also finished fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:34.60).
“We really had great effort against one of the state powerhouse teams,” Oberlander said. “After a three-hour practice yesterday morning, the girls really responded well and competed nicely. We are really focused on the next few weeks leading up to conference and state.”
Madelyn Hedrick took second in the 500 freestyle (6:10.64) and fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:25.14), and Autumn Campbell was second in diving (201.25) for the Jaguars.
Anna Zweerink took third in the 200 free (2:10.94) and fourth in the 50 free (27.89), both in state consideration times. Gabby Fournier finished third in the 100 butterfly in a state consideration time of 1:07.38.
