The Grain Valley girls swimming and diving team captured second place in a six-team meet Wednesday.

The Eagles totaled 366 points to finish behind Liberty North (670) and ahead of Truman (158), William Chrisman (139), Van Horn (100) and Blue Springs (37).

Blue Springs had just two swimmers in one event at the meet. Shaedyn Read (1 minute, 58.11 seconds) and Jenna Wright (1:58.33) finished 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle, the only event that Liberty North didn’t win.

Rachel Turpin led the way for Grain Valley, taking second in the 100 butterfly (1:03.67), missing a win by just .03 of a second. She also finished fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:09.54) and teamed with Maddie Epple, Bailey Reich and Alyssa Hanenkratt to take second in the 400 freestyle relay (4:28.85).

Hayden Meyer was fourth in diving (146.10), Reich was fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:45.84), Hanenkratt was fifth in the 500 free (6:33.82) and Ella Boyle was fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.02) for the Eagles.

Rian Caswell led Truman with a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.76) and seventh in the 200 IM (2:50.97). Devon Simms took sixth in the 50 freestyle (30.36).

Megan Bruch finished fourth in the 500 free (6:14.49) and fifth in the 200 free (2:22.90) and Kiersten Playter was sixth in the 200 IM (2:4.59) to lead Chrisman.

Bryanna Counts took eighth in the 200 free (2:50.13) to lead Van Horn.
