ST. PETERS, Mo. – Blue Springs earned four second-day berths in the Class 2 Missouri State High School Girls Swimming and Diving Championships.

Senior Shaedyn Read and sophomore Annemarie Rehbein each claimed one spot in the finals and helped a pair of relay teams reach the second day in Thursday’s preliminaries at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.

Blue Springs South earned three second-day swims, while Lee’s Summit North failed to advance anyone to today’s 10 a.m. swimming finals.

Read captured a spot in the 500-yard freestyle finals and a chance at a state title with a fourth-place time of 5 minutes, 9.41 seconds. She also narrowly missed a spot in the consolation finals in the 200 freestyle, finishing 20th in 2:01.44.

Rehbein earned a berth in the 100 breaststroke finals with an eighth-place time of 1:08.34. She also fell short in the 200 individual medley, finishing 23rd in 2:18.51.

Read and Rehbein teamed with Carson Ludwig and Jenna Wright to claim the No. 8 seed and a finals berth in the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:43.92. Those two combined with Wright and Gracie Lefholz for an 11th-place time of 1:53.36 and a spot in the consolation finals in the 200 medley relay.

Anna Zweerink led the way for Blue Springs South, capturing a spot in the 100 butterfly consolation finals with a 13th-place time of 1:00.61. She also anchored the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay teams that earned consolation final berths.

Regi Hecker, Gabby Fournier and Kennedy Hecker teamed with Zweerink for a 13th-place time of 1:42.98 in the 200 free relay. Regi Hecker, Fournier, MacLean and Zweerink earned the No. 14 seed in the 400 free relay in 3:47.75.

Regi Hecker narrowly missed a pair of individual second-day berths. She is the second alternate in the 100 freestyle with an 18th-place time of 55.23 seconds. She was 19th in the 50 freestyle, missing a berth by just .11 of a second in 25.33 seconds.

Blue Springs’ Wright also came close in both the 50 (22nd, 25.55) and 100 (23rd, 55.61). Wildcats senior Lefholz took 31st in both of her events, the 200 IM (2:23.40) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.68), Ludwig was 26th in the 200 freestyle (2:03.48) and the 200 free relay team was 22nd (1:47.51).

MacLean finished 30th for the Jaguars in the 500 free (5:43.36).

The 200 freestyle relay team of Madison Goff, Haylee Martin, Kelly Connolly and Morgan Andersen came closest to a second-day berth for Lee’s Summit North. That team finished 17th and is the first alternate in 1:45.17.

Hayden Bentley (100 backstroke, 1:04.84) and Maggie Phillips (100 butterfly, 1:03.74) had North’s highest individual finishes, each taking 25th. Andersen was 27th in the 50 free (25.91) and 29th in the 100 free (56.77). Connolly was 26th in the 100 butterfly (1:03.79) and Macie Menges was 28th in the 500 free (5:41.37).

The Broncos’ 200 medley relay team was 25th (2:00.37) and 400 free relay was 26th (3:55.36).
