The Grain Valley boys tennis team didn’t have much trouble getting past No. 6 seed Fort Osage in a 5-0 win Monday in the opening round of the Class 2 District 14 Tournament.

The Eagles, the No. 3 seed, advance to play Blue Springs at 4 p.m. today.

In doubles play, Joel Florida and Trent Tarrants won 8-5, Dean Mobley and Bryson Martin won 8-2 and Triston Whitton and Brady Slater won 8-0.

In singles, Whitton won 6-0, 6-0; and Brady Slater won 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the victory.

“I love the way we are playing,” Grain Valley coach Randy Draper said. “We’re playing well at the right time. We’ll have a really good test against Blue Springs. They beat us earlier in the year, so hopefully we can flip some matches.”
