BOLIVAR, Mo. – Blue Springs South’s Grant Wall was four strokes worse Tuesday than his opening round at the state tournament.

But the senior was able to hold on to a tie for seventh place and earn all-state honors by shooting a final round 77 in the Class 4 Missouri High School Boys Golf State Championships at the par-72 Silo Ridge Golf Club in Bolivar.

Wall, after shooting 73 in Monday’s first round, finished with a 150 total, just four strokes off medalist Dawson Meek of Springfield Glendale, who shot 78 to finish with a 146.

Wall earned all-state honors a year after missing a state berth by two strokes in the sectional tournament.

Blue Springs South, as a team, though, couldn’t work its way out of the eighth and final spot in the standings, finishing with a 654 total after shooting 330 Tuesday.

Blue Springs’ Blake Rooney was the next best area finisher, tying for 57th with a 165 total after shooting 84 in the final round.

South’s Grant Williamson shaved eight strokes off his first round and tied for 60th with a 166 (87-79). Dylan Boyer tied for 65th at 167 (81-86). Ryan Dykhouse (83-88-171) and Ryan Cunningham (91-104-195) completed the Jaguars’ scoring.

Lee’s Summit North’s Kohlin Hicks shot 86 Tuesday to tie for 71st at 168.

Jackson won the team title with a 611 (307-304), edging Rockhurst (309-304-613)) and St. Louis Chaminade (310-303-613) by two strokes.

CLASS 2: St. Michael the Archangel Catholic’s John Hyde fired a final-round 85 to tie for 31st in the Class 2 Missouri Boys Golf State Championships at par-72 Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.

Hyde followed a first-round 90 with his 85 for a 175 total, seven strokes away from the all-state cutoff of 168.

Alex Brown of Summit Christian Academy shot 167 (80-87) to tie for 12th and earn all-state honors. St. Pius X won the team title with a 678 (341-337) total.
