The Lee’s Summit Post 189 Auxiliary Outlaws bounced back from an opening loss to claim two wins Thursday in the American Legion Wood Bat Invitational.
After a 6-4 loss to Moline (Ill.) Post 246 Wednesday, the Outlaws downed the Ottawa (Kan.) Post 60 Arrows 4-1 and Elsberry (Mo.) Post 226 1-0 in pool play Thursday.
The Outlaws scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to snap a 1-1 tie in the 4-1 win over Ottawa.
Trevor Key and TJ Nichols each had two hits and an RBI and Jaxson Hill and Zane Ragland each had a hit and an RBI to lift the Outlaws.
Carter Bradford pitched a complete-game victory, allowing six hits, one unearned run and one walk while striking out three.
In the win over Elsberry, the Outlaws scored the only run they needed in the second inning on Trevor Key’s RBI single.
Nichols fired a two-hit shutout, walking two and striking out seven.
