Katie Sutton pitched a gem and helped out at the plate to help the Truman softball team claim a win Thursday.

Sutton allowed just two hits and no walks and struck out six in four scoreless innings to lead the Patriots to a 10-0 five-inning win over host Notre Dame de Sion.

“Katie Sutton threw a beauty, building some confidence in the circle, but the biggest take from this game was the fact that (we) made zero errors,” Truman coach Dan Harper said. "Errors have been eating us alive in our losses and that was addressed at practice yesterday. It looks like our talk paid off as we played error free today."

Sutton also added a hit and two RBIs. Cecelia Mora had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, and Myel White also had two hits and two RBIs to help lead Truman. Kennedy Rucker, who pitched the final scoreless inning, added two hits and an RBI and Makenna Pontallion had a hit and two RBIs.

ODESSA 12, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 5: The Bears took a 3-0 lead in the first inning but couldn’t hold on in a non-conference loss to the Bulldogs Thursday.

Odessa scored four runs in the second inning and another four in the fourth frame to take the lead for good. Gracie Ussery was the losing pitcher, but at the plate, she had a single and a double to help pace the offense.

Baylee Holloman, Clarissa Etter and Kiara Boldridge each added two hits.

FORT OSAGE 20, NORTH KANSAS CITY 2: The Indians had little trouble downing their Suburban Middle Six Conference foe in a three-inning, mercy rule victory Thursday.

Kyra McIntosh had a solo home run and three RBIs to pace the Indians. Olivia Siefker added three hits and three RBIs and Alysa Garlock added two RBIs.
