A strong defense helped spark the Blue Springs volleyball team to a sweep of host Lee’s Summit North Tuesday.
Aliyah Bello led the defense by tallying 20 digs as the Wildcats downed the Broncos 25-21, 25-16 for a Suburban Big Six victory.
“The match that featured multiple long rallies and scrappy defense on both sides of the net,” Blue Springs coach Katie Straka said. “Set one went back and forth the whole way, with both teams finding ways to put the ball in play and attack aggressively. Set two started the same until we pulled away on the momentum of two Brittany Whetstone blocks.”
Chloe Kaminski knocked down eight kills and Lily Letchworth ran the offense with 23 assists as the Wildcats remained undefeated at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
WILLIAM CHRISMAN 25-25, RAYTOWN 20-20: A freshman helped lead host William Chrisman to a two-set win over Raytown Tuesday.
J'lea Berry led the Bears with four kills as they defeated the Blue Jays by identical 25-20 scores in the Suburban Middle Seven match.
Patience Farmer totaled 16 digs while Laycee Papa contributed 10 digs along with three service aces. Courtney Taylor and Gia Moore each added three kills as Chrisman improved to 2-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
