The Truman football team has its first win of the season.

The Patriots raced to a 21-0 first quarter lead on the way to a 40-9 victory over the host St. Joseph Central Indians Friday night.

Truman improved to 1-3 overall and 1-3 in the Suburban Large seven heading into next week’s Noland Road rivalry game against 0-4 William Chrisman.

Truman held a 27-9 lead at halftime before pulling away in the second half for the Suburban Large Seven victory.

RAYTOWN 28, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 0: Dontae Manning scored three touchdowns – one in each of the first three quarters – to lead Raytown to a shutout win over host William Chrisman Friday.

Manning scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter and a 40-yard run in the second quarter to give the Blue Jays a 14-0 halftime lead.

Manning then took the opening kickoff of the second half 84 yards for a score for a 21-0 advantage just 13 seconds into the third quarter.

Raytown quarterback Joe Campbell, who had a game-high 80 yards rushing on 18 carries, scored on a 3-yard run with 3:02 remaining to seal the win and improve to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the Suburban Middle Seven.

Raytown held Chrisman to just 133 total yards. Chrisman quarterback Osi Nauer was limited to just 37 yards on 16 carries as the Bears fell to 0-4 and 0-3.

OAK GROVE 35, KANSAS CITY EAST 14: Clynton Stewart ran for three touchdowns and Clay Griffin ran for two more to lead Oak Grove to a rout of host Kansas City East Friday.

The Panther scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter to take control. A Griffin scoring run was followed by Adrian Whitehead’s two-point conversion run for an 8-0 lead with 9:36 left in the first quarter.

Stewart scored on a 7-yard run to make it 15-0 with 1:35 left in the opening quarter.

Stewart scored on an 11-yard run for a 21-0 halftime lead.

Griffin and Stewart each added another touchdown in the third to make it 35-0 before East tacked on a pair of late touchdowns as Oak Grove improved to 2-2 overall with the non-conference victory.

ST. MICHAEL 55, LONE JACK 23: After not scoring a point in its first three games this season, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic erupted for 55 Friday to claim its first win Friday.

The Guardians improved to 1-3, while Lone Jack dropped to 0-4.
