The Van Horn boys soccer team wanted to test itself aganst bigger programs.

It got that test when state power St. Louis University High School visited Friday afternoon and left with a 4-1 victory over the Falcons.

The Junior Billikens, who will play at Blue Valley (Kan.) Northwest Saturday, scored two goals in each half to snap Van Horn’s 11-game winning streak.

SLUH (9-4) scored goals in the 15th and 24th minutes for a 2-0 halftime lead. The Junior Billikens made it 3-0 in the 50th minute before Edinson Rios scored on an Angel DeAvila assist four minutes later to cut the deficit to 3-1.

SLUH added another goal in the 60th minute to seal the win.

Cooper Sumpter made seven saves in goal as the Falcons dropped to 11-2 overall.

OLATHE EAST 6, BLUE SPRINGS 3: A second-half comeback fell short as Blue Springs South lost to Olathe (Kan.) East Friday at South.

The visiting Hawks built a 4-1 first-half lead. Dylan Shuker converted a penalty kick in the 37th minute for the Jaguars’ lone goal in the opening period.

Aiden Doctor scored in the 43rd minute and Miller Via scored in the 50th minute but it wasn’t enough as Olathe East added another pair of goals.

The Jaguars dropped to 3-6 overall with their fifth straight loss.
