Fort Osage senior setter Ciera Cory surpassed a milestone while helping her team to a victory Thursday.
Cory dished out 25 assists to surpass 1,000 for her career in a 25-17, 25-15 Suburban Middle Seven victory over host Oak Park.
Rachel Tharp tallied nine kills to lead the offense and also led the defense with 13 digs.
Kendra Siefker added six kills and Aly Young had five kills as Fort Osage improved to 14-5-1 overall and 6-1 in the conference.
ST. TERESA’S 25-25, BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 15-21: Blue Springs South battled but couldn’t get past perennial state power St. Teresa’s Academy in a non-conference road match Thursday.
Ryleigh McBurney led a strong defensive effort with 10 digs as the Jaguars dropped to 8-11 overall.
“So proud of our team effort tonight,” Jaguars coach Mallori Perry said. “Can’t complain with varsity’s energy and effort in the second set.”
Kylie Gregory had seven kills and Carsen Murray added five kills and four blocks to lead South’s play at the net. Marti Strickert added eight digs and five assists and Mandy Main dished out 10 assists.
South fell 25-17, 25-19 in the junior varsity match.
PARK HILL 25-24-25, LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 20-26-22: Lee’s Summit North fell just short in a tight Suburban Big Six Conference battle at Park Hill Thursday.
The Broncos edged the host Trojans 26-24 in the second set but fell three points short in the final set to fall to 5-10 overall and 1-6 in the Big Six.
