The Blue Springs South girls tennis team finished off its regular season in strong fashion Thursday.

The Jaguars swept singles play on the way to an 8-1 non-conference win over Platte County at Young Park.

Francesca Klosener rallied for a 10-7 win in No. 1 singles.

“Francesca Klosener had a nice come-from-behind win. … She and her partner had a tough (9-7) loss in doubles, and I think it translated over into her singles match in the beginning,” Jaguars coach Jake Estep said after his team improved to 11-1 in dual matches heading into next week’s district tournament. “But something awoke in her halfway through her match, and she came alive for a commanding last five to six games to claim a win.”

Khiara Cox also fell behind in her No. 2 match but bounced back for a 10-6 win. Jasmine Tucker (10-3), Ashley Cooper (10-8), Natalie Nelson (10-4) and Sumerlyn Vorachek (10-1) completed the singles sweep.

“Strong performances all around,” Estep said. “When you have a bottom of the team as good as ours and get wins at No. 1 and No. 2, you know you're having a good night.”

The doubles teams of Cox and Tucker and Nelson and Vorachek both claimed 8-1 victories.

The South junior varsity cruised to a 9-0 victory.
