Despite a week of intense training, the Blue Springs South boys swimming and diving team had enough to pull out a victory.
The Jaguars totaled 632 points to top Kearney (555), Grain Valley (326) and Marshall (37) in a four-team meet Tuesday at the Blue Springs Family YMCA.
Luke Fournier led the way with a pair of victories. He won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 15.07 seconds and prevailed in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.27.
“This was one of the most satisfying meets of the year,” Blue Springs South coach Errich Oberlander said. “I know we are tired, but we still competed hard and really had some of our best performances of the year.”
George Bahr claimed a victory in the 100 freestyle (52.82) and took second in the 200 freestyle (1:52.67), both in state consideration times. He also teamed with Josh Hafner, Landon Luke and Chason Smith for a win in the 400 freestyle relay in a state consideration time of 3:37.42.
South’s Martin Sorrelli won the 500 freestyle (6:30.52) and James Price triumphed in diving with a score of 216.55. Luke took second in the 50 freestyle (24.47) and 100 freestyle (54.78).
Jase Tipton took second in the 200 individual medley (2:39.71) and third in the butterfly (1:10.85), Jackson Lane was second in diving (191.40) and Riley Fangman was third in both the 200 IM (2:42.36) and 500 freestyle (6:33.29) to lead Grain Valley.
