The Van Horn soccer team continues to dominate on both ends of the field.
Angel DeAvila scored two goals and added two assists – all in the first half – to lead the Falcons to a 5-0 victory over Kansas City Christian Monday at the Olathe District Activities Center.
DeAvila scored off a Tony Chavira assist in the fifth minute and then assisted on Carson Sumpter’s goal two minutes later to put the Falcons ahead 2-0.
DeAvila scored an unassisted goal in the 25th minute and then assisted on Kyne Butcher’s goal three minutes later to make it 4-0 at halftime.
The defense limited Kansas City Christian to two shots on goal and goalkeeper Cooper Sumpter stopped them both for the shutout.
Juan Rangel capped the scoring in the 51st minute on an assist from Diego Coronado as the Falcons improved to 16-3 overall and 5-0 in the Crossroads Conference with their fourth straight win.
PARK HILL 2, LEE’S SUMMIT NORTH 1: Lee’s Summit North could hold on to an early lead in a Suburban Big Six home loss to Park Hill Monday.
Liam Frank scored off an AB Falah assist to put the Broncos (7-9-1, 4-4 Big Six) ahead 1-0.
Park Hill tied it before halftime and scored again midway through the second half for the lead.
“It was frustrating to end up on the short side of the score line as we outplayed Park Hill for most of the match,” Broncos coach Ryan Kelley said. “We had a couple small mental mistakes that hurt us and lead to the loss.”
HARRISONVILLE 2, OAK GROVE 1: Harrisonville scored in the second overtime to hand Oak Grove an MRVC West home loss Monday.
Gael Perez scored in regulation for Oak Grove but Harrisonville tied it to send the game into overtime.
The Panthers dropped to 11-8-1 overall and 3-4 in the MRVC West.
