The Oak Grove softball team will have a chance to get back to the Class 3 state title game.

The Panthers routed rival Odessa 16-6 in five innings Saturday to repeat as the Class 3 District 14 champions.

Last year, Oak Grove turned that district crown into a spot in the Class 3 championship game before falling 5-0 to Mexico.

Kelsey Webb led the way for the Panthers Saturday, garnering four hits and driving in six runs and pitching the final 1 2/3 innings as the Panthers improved to 13-15 and advanced to Wednesday’s sectional playoff.

Marcie Dunham pitched the first 3 1/3 innings for the victory.

Tomi Lightle had three hits and two RBIs and Karlie Romine added two hits as the Panthers capitalized on six Odessa errors.

Oak Grove, which finished with 12 hits, scored four runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead and then erupted for 10 runs in the fourth to pull away.

The Panthers will face Nevada (15-8) for the second straight year in sectionals when they travel to Nevada to face the Tigers at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bushwhacker Park.
