The Lee’s Summit North boys soccer coach Ryan Kelley wanted his team to finish the regular season on a strong note.
After Blue Springs South took an early lead, the Broncos bounced back for a 5-2 Suburban Big Six victory Tuesday.
Blake Landaverry led the way for the Broncos with a goal and two assists.
“Closing out the regular season we wanted to finish strong and turn around our previous matches,” Kelley said after his team finished the regular season at 8-11-1. “Through the first half we played without much drive and we allowed South to have the better of the play. We tried to play long out of the back instead of focusing on building up play through our midfield. … The explosion of goals in the second half was great for our confidence and helped to turn our focus back in the right direction as we head into district play next week.”
Carson Wilcox scored off a Landaverry pass to tie it 1-1 at halftime.
Parker Allen, Jose Vega, Landaverry and Liam Frank all scored in the second half for North. Frank and Connor Lepper also added assists.
Blue Springs South dropped to 8-11 and 3-7 in the Big Six in its regular season finale.
LEE’S SUMMIT WEST 2, BLUE SPRINGS 1: Blue Springs tied it midway through the second half but Lee’s Summit West scored about 10 minutes later to claim a Suburban Big Six win.
Carlos Llamas scored in the 55th minute when the West goalkeeper tried to clear the ball and it hit Llamas and went in the goal.
The Titans scored in the 65th minute to take the lead.
Blue Springs had several chances late but couldn’t convert and finished the regular season at 12-10-1 overall and 3-7 in the conference.
