The Lee’s Summit North wrestling team got its season off to a strong start by defeating a pair of crosstown rivals.

The Broncos recorded eight pins in a 61-12 rout of host Lee’s Summit and then had five wins by fall in a 45-30 victory over Lee’s Summit West Tuesday night.

Senior heavyweight Mark McGhee (285) only spent 18 seconds on the mat Tuesday, recording an 8-second pin against Lee’s Summit and a 10-second pin against the Titans to lead the way for the Broncos (2-0).

Hunter Ross also claimed a pair of pins, including a 15-second win against the Tigers. Triston Jones also had two pins, including a 29-second win against West. Trey Robinson (138) also had a pair of pins.

Ryan McNeel (126), Javi Gutierrez (145), Carter Pickering (170) and Zane Ragland (182) also registered pins against Lee’s Summit. Aaron Barnhill (195) won a 13-5 major decision and David Spiller (132) won a 7-3 decision.

Spiller (132) got a first-period pin against West and Caden Schweitzer (120) won a 6-3 decision.
