The Lee’s Summit North boys basketball team bounced back from a first-round loss in the Webster Groves Classic.

Kloby Franklin scored 17 points to lead the Broncos to a 55-48 win over Gateway Tech in the consolation semifinals Friday.

Dayne Davis added 14 and Hayden Cole had 11 points for the Broncos (2-4), who face St. Louis University High at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the fifth-place game.

On Thursday, Lee’s Summit North fell 73-60 to Confluence Charter Academy in the first round of the tournament.

Seniors Hayden Cole and Dayne Davis each scored 15 points but it wasn’t enough as the Broncos dropped to 1-4 overall.


BLUE VALLEY SOUTHWEST 56, TRUMAN 53: Despite shooting nearly 60 percent from the field in the second half the Truman girls were unable to hang on to a halftime lead in an overtime loss to Blue Valley (Kan.) Southwest in the consolation final of the DeSoto (Kan.) Huhtamaki Hardwood Classic Friday night.

The Patriots used strong defense to take a 17-9 lead into halftime. Southwest, though, outscored them 19-14 in the fourth quarter to force overtime. The Timberwolves then had an 11-8 advantage in the extra period.

Deon Monroe scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Taliyah Scott had 20 points and three assists to lead Truman (5-2).
