The Grain Valley wrestling team only won two matches contested on the mat Tuesday.
But the host Eagles were able to capitalize on six forfeit victories to claim a 48-33 win over Grandview in a Suburban Small Seven match.
Evan Reich (152 pounds) won by pin in just 59 seconds and Tyler Groves (106) recorded a second-period pin to help lift Grain Valley.
Trenton Starr (132), Cameron Mickelson (160), Drake Tipton (170), Hunter Newsom (182), Shane Duckworth (195) and Donovan McBride (285) each claimed forfeit wins for the Eagles.
CAMERON 40, OAK GROVE 24: Oak Grove claimed three wins by pin but it wasn’t enough to get past a strong Cameron team Tuesday.
Oak Grove’s results against St. Joseph Benton were not available.
Adrian Whitehead (170), Garrett Hudspeth (220) and Caleb Groff (280) each won with third-period pins against Cameron.
Keegan Scarborough (132) won a 4-0 decision and Carson Smith (138) edged his opponent 5-4 to make it 24-6, but Cameron won five of the next six matches to take command.
GUARDIANS WIN: St. Michael the Archangel Catholic claimed a 48-36 win over Lafayette County and topped host Carrollton 48-30 in a quad match Tuesday. The result of the Guardians’ match against Tipton was unavailable.
Caleb Berry (220), Noland Boyer (170) and Aamir Carter (195) each won with first-period pins in the win over Lafayette County. David Maschger (113) and Jacob Edmundson (145) also won with pins and the Guardians won three forfeits.
St. Michael had eight forfeit wins but did not earn a win on the mat in the win over Carrollton.
