Poles down, power out

Staff Writer
The Examiner
About 2,400 Evergy customers in eastern Blue Springs lost power Thursday afternoon after a tractor-trailer accidentally snagged an overhead wire while turning onto Sunnyside School Road to head north toward R.D. Mize Road. The domino effect caused nine power poles to break near the base and fall onto the street past Summit Drive. Crews were able to restore power through the afternoon and overnight hours. Many customers had power restored within a couple hours because crews looped power to a different circuit. Comcast crews continued to repair wires Friday.
