Who was your most inspirational teacher and why?

My most inspirational teacher was and still is Dr. (Dora) Fonseca. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for four years starting my freshman year with Spanish for native speakers. Dr. Fonseca has held my hand to this day. She is a strong and fierce woman who always works harder than expected because that is how she is. She inspires me because her difficulties never stopped her from believing in herself.

Dr. Fonseca is always willing to help with any situation, academically or personally. She is always willing to go above and beyond for anyone. Dr. Fonseca is someone I look up to, that I can reach out to at any given time and receive a sincere and helpful response. Lastly, her hard work inspires me, she has worked really hard for her doctorate degree. Her plans are to keep moving up until reaching her goal. I have grown to see Dr. Fonseca as family with the amount of love and support she has never failed to provide me with.

What college are you attending and why did you pick that school?

I am attending Rockhurst University this fall 2020. I am enrolled in the major of Health Science Pre-Physician's Assistant. Rockhurst became the perfect match for my dream field. I met John Kearney with the Hispanic Development Fund, he was able to help me find schools that were within my grasp.

Rockhurst stood out by opening the doors to me by valuing what I can bring as a student and rewarding me with what they have to offer creating a perfect match!

What are your plans after college?

Amongst my future plans after Rockhurst University is the completion of my master's degree at UMKC to become a physician assistant. My hope is to find the specialty that intrigues me the most during my undergraduate plan of studies. One of my dream jobs at the moment is to work with Children’s Mercy.

Next it is to have a stable job. I would love to give back to the two people that have been my pillars, Ana Gutierrez and Luis Mejia, my extraordinary parents. They gave up their personal and educational goals so that I could be successful.

Lastly, I want to be able to provide my future family with the wants and needs I lacked growing up. I plan to accomplish every future goal with God as my guide in every decision I take.
