Habitat for Humanity, local utilities offer home upgrades

The Examiner staff

Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity is offering weatherization home upgrades to qualifying Independence families. Openings for this assistance must be filled by September.

Truman Heritage Habitat is partnering with the gas company Spire and Independence Power and Light to help qualified low-income families with housing improvements, including furnace or AC repair or replacement, caulking, water heater replacement and attic insulation.

To qualify for these free services, the families must be Independence homeowners, meet the income eligibility requirements and be Spire and Independence Power and Light customers. The families must also be willing to volunteer 20 hours.
