Competitors in the Missouri River Race 340 pass by LaBenite Park in Sugar Creek early Tuesday. The 16th annual race began at Kaw Point in Kansas City, where the Kansas River joins the Missouri River, and the endurance race ends in St. Charles – a 340-mile stretch unabated by dams or rapids. The fastest individuals or teams have completed the race in less than 40 hours. Solo paddlers have 86 hours and all others 85 hours to complete the course, and there are nine required checkpoints along the way.
