Blue Springs offers small business loans

The city of Blue Springs has received an additional $158,235 through the federal CARES Act and plans to set aside a majority of that for a small business loan program.

The city says it will allocate $135,000 for the loan program and the remaining $23,235 to the Community Services League.

The loan program will assist qualifying small businesses and enterprises – up to 15 employees – in retaining low-to-moderate income jobs during the pandemic. Loans will range from $5,000 to $10,000 based on the number of employees, and the city anticipates between 13 and 27 businesses can benefit from the funds.

The money to CSL will be used to assist low-to-moderate income households with housing and utility payments.
