The Big 12 announced its 2021-22 basketball conference schedules on Wednesday, and for Kansas State's men, it all starts with a New Year's Day trip to Oklahoma.

The Wildcats' 18-game slate features four Saturday home games, including the first leg of the Sunflower Showdown with Kansas on Jan. 22, and a Big Monday matchup on Feb. 14 with West Virginia. The second KU game comes on Feb. 22 in Lawrence.

Of the 18 games, 14 are against 2021 NCAA Tournament teams, including two with defending NCAA champion Baylor on Jan. 25 in Waco, Texas, and Feb. 9 at Bramlage Coliseum. The Wildcats' most challenging stretch features four straight NCAA qualifiers, starting at home with Texas Tech on Jan. 15, followed by a trip to Texas on Jan. 18 and wrapping up with KU at home and Baylor on the road.

In addition to Texas Tech and Kansas, the Wildcats' other Saturday home games are Feb. 26 against Iowa State and March 5 for the conference finale with Oklahoma.

The Wildcats' other Big Monday appearance will be Feb. 28 at Texas Tech.

Super-senior guard Mike McGuirl (00) is one of four returning starters for Kansas State. The Big 12 announced its conference schedule on Wednesday.

After facing Ole Miss on the road on Jan. 29 for the Big 12/SEC Challenge, K-State finishes the regular season with 10 straight conference games. The Big 12 Tournament then runs from March 9-12 at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

K-State is coming off a disappointing 9-20 season that included a ninth-place Big 12 finish at 4-14. But the Wildcats return four of their top five scorers and added three Division I transfers in the offseason.

Super-senior guard Mike McGuirl and sophomores Nijel Pack, Davion Bradford and Selton Miguel all made at least 22 starts last year. Pack led the team in scoring with 12.7 points per game and assists with 3.8, while McGuirl added 11.8 points and 3.6 assists.

Bradford, a 7-foot center, averaged 7.7 points and is the top returning rebounder with a 4.3 average, while Miguel added 7.2 points and developed into a defensive stopper late in the season. Other returning players are juniors Kaosi Ezeagu and Carlton Linguard, and sophomores Luke Kasubke and Seryee Lewis.

The Wildcats also face Wichita State in a Dec. 5 Sunday game at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita and travel to Lincoln to take on Nebraska on Dec. 19.
