St. Michael claims pair of wins in quad

The Berry brothers didn’t spend a long time on the mat Wednesday.

Each went 3-0 with three quick pins as the St. Michael the Archangel wrestling team went 2-1 in a quad meet at Summit Christian Academy.

The Guardians defeated host SCA 42-18 and St. Paul Lutheran 57-24 but lost 49-41 to St. Joseph Lafayette.

Jacob Edmundson (152), Zach Berry (220) and Caleb Berry (285) each recorded first-period pins in the win against Summit Christian. Caleb Berry took just 13 seconds to pin his opponent, Edmundson won in 15 seconds and Zach Berry had his pin 30 seconds in. The Guardians also capitalized on four forfeits.

St. Michael totaled seven pins against St. Paul. Again, Edmundson, Zach Berry and Caleb Berry each got quick pins again, and David Maschger (120) took just 11 seconds to win. Matthew Wempe (126), Blaise Rastorfer (145) and Ellis Edwards (160) also won by fall, and Jakson Wimberly won a 10-3 decision.

Caleb Berry won in 28 seconds and Zach Berry won in 38 seconds for the Guardians’ only wins on the mat against Lafayette.

WILLIAM CHRISMAN 48, NORTH KANSAS CITY 18: William Chrisman used three pins and five forfeit wins to rout host North Kansas City Wednesday.

Carl Bell (152), Taj Selectman (170) and Jake Rue (182) each won by pin, while Riley Ragan (106), Nathan Hamilton (113), Aydn Castillo (132), Darrion Patterson (145) and Mason Walters (195) each claimed forfeit victories.
