With animal shelter overly full, Independence sets Friday-to-Sunday adoption event

Tonya Hampton-Lopez, director of adoption services at Independence’s Regional Animal Shelter, brings out Powel, a German shepherd mix who is one of the dozens of dogs up for adoption, for Independence Council Member Heather Wiley to visit with Thursday.
