Examiner High School Girls Athlete of the Week for April 29: Andrea Locke

EXAMINER GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

SPORT: Track and field
CLASS: Junior
SCHOOL: William Chrisman
HIGHLIGHTS: The sprinter and jumper garnered four individual victories in the Independence City Championships meet at Fort Osage. Locke swept the 100 and 200 meters in 12.72 and 27.03 seconds, respectively. She then swept the long jump and triple jump titles, with leaps of 15 feet, 2.75 inches and 32-11.75, respectively.
COMMENT: “Andrea is such a competitor,” Bears coach Annie Dudek said. “After she won the four events at the Independence invitational, she said she wished she could compete in more events to help get points for the team. She is a leader on and off the track and she is always there for her teammates. We really think this could be a special year for Andrea.”
