Jackson County Parks and Recreation will hold Children’s Day and National Trails Day at Missouri Town 1855 on June 4.

For the Children’s Day observance, children can participate in several games, including gunny sack and three-legged races, pie-eating contests, cracker whistling, stilts, tug-of-war and a new steer roping game. Children also will be able to transplant a seedling to a clay pot, which they can take home and watch grow.

In observance of National Trails Day, a special exhibit will provide information on hiking and biking trails maintained by Jackson County Parks, including the rapidly expanding Little Blue Trace.

The festivities run 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 4 at Missouri Town, which is at 8010 East Park Road on the east side of Lake Jacomo. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 5-13 and seniors. Children age 4 and younger are admitted free.
