To the editor:
Who is buying this stolen copper salvage? Why are they not under strict guidelines and regulations? I think they should be required to get proper identification, license plate and vehicle information, etc., and then required to forward that to the local police department.
I realize that these creeps would probably find a way around any speed bump to get drug money, etc., but surely it could be made much tougher for them? Maybe the businesses that buy this should be cased and charged as well. I find it hard to believe that they do not “know” in the majority of cases when this is stolen copper.
