The first annual Spring Car Show and Rib Fest will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Shocking Prices, located at the northwest corner of 23rd Street and Missouri 291 in Independence.

Classic, antique and muscle cars will be on display, along with a variety of motorcycles. The event will take place in the parking lot in front of Shocking Prices.

From noon to 4 p.m., the official band of the Missouri Mavericks, the Best Choice Blues Band, will perform.

From 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Mavericks mascot Mac will be on hand to greet fans and have photo opportunities and Mavericks forward Derek Pallardy will conduct a Referring Wellness demonstration from noon to 1 p.m. at Hockey Republic, which is located inside Shocking Prices.

At 2 p.m., Mavericks audio visual coordinator Craig Morency will be honored with an outstanding achievement award for his work at all home games.

“Too many times hardworking people behind the scenes fail to be recognized, and that is why we want to give his award to Craig,” Shocking Prices and Mid-America Liquidators, Inc., president John Olivarez said.

“And I talked to (Mavericks captain) Carlyle Lewis and (Central Hockey League Man of the Year) Simon Watson, and they both told me they were going to attend the car show. So fans who come out might have the chance to visit with them.

“And (Missouri Comets defender) Leo Gibson told me he was going to bring out some Comets players. So everyone should have a great time.”

The event is free and everyone is invited to bring their car or motorcycle to display.

The Rib Crib will be selling ribs and beef sandwiches.
