The FIRST Bots of Independence Robotics Team had a successful showing at the St. Louis Regional Competition, placing 12th out of 43 teams.

The FIRST Bots of Independence Robotics Team had a successful showing at the St. Louis Regional Competition, placing 12th out of 43 teams.


The team, which includes students from all three Independence high schools as well as St. Mary’s and Center Place, have had six weeks to design and build the robot. Robots were required to pick up foam balls and shoot them through one of four hoops, which varied in height. Points were given for each basket, with more points given for the higher baskets.


The team won its first five matches before the bridge mechanism was broken. The team then suffered three losses before repairs could be made.
