Secretary Tammy Kunkel was recently named the most recent Blue Springs Police Department Employee of the Month. Tammy is the Receptionist for the BSPD Community and Youth Outreach Unit, and her pleasant greeting it often the first contact for anyone visiting the unit.

Tammy joined the Blue Springs Police Department in 2007 and done a remarkable job in her position. She works equally well with co-workers and those who come to the Community & Youth Outreach Unit for services. Tammy is very positive about her job and always presents that pleasant “first impression” to our clients. Her personality and demeanor puts everyone she meets more at ease and willing to accept services.

With the volume of people coming in to the unit who need services, it is essential that they be treated patiently and with compassion. No matter how hectic the day, Tammy relates to each person on their own level. Her co-workers benefit as well from her caring and quickness to handle daily situations because then those who are troubled accept the help of other CYOU personnel more easily.

Tammy not only maintains all her own duties and completes them in a timely fashion, she quietly looks for ways to make other people’s jobs easier. She always follows through with the tasks that are time consuming but that make things flow smoother for everyone. Tammy genuinely cares for others, especially the families that she works with, and that shows in all of her interactions.

Tammy has been a delight to have as part of the team at CYOU and we congratulates her for being recognized as the Blue Springs Police Department Employee of the Month.
