Practically all of the city officials have taken possession of the new quarters in the city hall building on South Main Street and Kansas. The building is complete except for some of the finishing touches. A new feature, which Independence has never had before, is a private office for the mayor. This is a handsome room on the ground floor. A big double oak desk sits in the northeast corner of the room with oak chairs to match. Superintendent Nichols has been assigned the keys as keeper of the underground vault.
