Whiskey Tango rang in the New Year with a great event featuring country music artist Jason Michael Carroll. The Grain Valley club regularly plays host for country artists, drawing in avid fans locally and from all over. Fans traveled from as far as Tennessee and New York to Grain Valley for the performance.

The New Year’s Eve celebration at Tango featured a $50 per person package for reserved seating, a meet and greet with Carroll and a steak dinner.

General admission tickets were $20, and avid fans packed the dance floor by the time Carroll took the stage after local acts Outlaw Jim and the Whiskey Benders.

Carroll knows instant success doesn’t exist. He has paid his dues and then some. It has paid off with hit songs such as “Numbers” from his new album, which is available only at Cracker Barrel, as well his first hit, “Alyssa Lies.”

Fans at Whiskey Tango got to hear those hits as well as “Livin’ Our Love Song,” “Where I’m From” and many other album cuts.

Jason also pounded out rockin’ covers that had the crowd stompin’ and singing. One of the favorites of die-hard Jason Michael Carroll fans as well as newly found fans is his song “I Can Sleep When I’m Dead.” It really had everyone on their feet. It didn’t take long for this country star to turn it into a down home party.

When he made his way into the crowd and stayed for an extended period of time, he seemed to enjoy it as much as the fans did as he leaped onto tables and wandered through shaking hands and stopping for photos.

He played until right before the clock struck midnight, and after the countdown to 2012 he was back on stage once again.

It was a great crowd that was attentive to the great entertainment and that enjoyed the wonderful food.  Whiskey Tango organized the seating and standing room only areas with a separated walk area that made it easy to move about between the two without blocking views.

It’s the kind of close-to-home entertainment that makes it easy to enjoy a night out.
