Two area golfers earned all-conference honors at the Missouri River Valley Conference West Championships Monday.
Oak Grove senior Marc Day fired an 80 to finish second overall, while Grain Valley’s Corey Heath shot 88 to tie for 10th in the conference tournament at Shirkey Golf Club.
“I was very pleased with Marc Day’s performance,” Oak Grove coach Bob Glasgow said. “Tough course and tougher conditions. That is the kind of play we expect from him as our No. 1 player and senior leader.”
Grain Valley shot 365 to finish fourth behind Pleasant Hill (336), Harrisonville (348) and Excelsior Springs (349). Oak Grove was sixth at 417.
“Corey has been playing very well the last week or so, so he didn’t quite play as well as he has been,” Grain Valley coach Andy Herbert said. “But to finish in the top 10 and be all-conference your senior year is a special deal. It was a good day for him especially.”
Jake Farrell shot 90, Brandon Booth posted a 92 and Kaleb Graham finished with a 95 to complete Grain Valley’s scoring.
Day was the only Oak Grove player to break 100 as the Panthers played with only four.
CROSSROADS CONFERENCE: Alex Edwards fired an 88 to finish third in the inaugural Crossroads Conference Golf Championships Friday at Loch Lloyd Country Club.
Edwards earned all-conference honors and led the Trojans to a third-place team finish with a 444 total.
Lee’s Summit Community Christian took the team title with a 355.
