A 4-2 win over Oral Roberts Saturday enabled to the No. 4 seeded Kangaroos to win the Summit League Tournament, earning an automatic bid to the tournament.
The NCAA bracket was released Tuesday. The Kangaroos will travel to Tulsa, Okla., to begin the tournament on May 8 and will face No. 6-seed Baylor in the first round.
This is the first time since 2000 the Kangaroos have advanced to the national tennis tournament, and the third time in the school’s history.
If UMKC wins, the Kangaroos will play the winnner of the Tulsa-Texas Christian match.
The Kangaroos feature South graduates Bret Berryman and Nick Hays. Berryman lost at No. 1 singles against Oral Roberts before coming back and teaming with Patrick Smith for a win at No. 1 doubles.
