Mary Belle Perkins, 92 of Independence, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Independence.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., April 25, 2011, at DW Newcomer’s Sons Noland Road Chapel, 509 South Noland Road, Independence, MO. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery on Noland Road. The family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.  

Mary was born November 9, 1918, in Butler, Missouri, and graduated from Grain Valley High School in 1937. Mary married Stanley Perkins in 1938, and to this union, 2 children were born, Stan, Jr., and Peggy.

Stanley, Sr., passed away in 1989, after 50 years of marriage. Mary’s parents and one sister also preceded her in death.

Mary is survived by her son, Stan, and his wife, Karen, and daughter Peggy and her husband, Bill Turner; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  We want to also acknowledge Tanya An as Mary’s “adopted daughter”.

Mary lived the last 75 years in Independence, mostly in the Englewood area. Mary was very active in her church, Maywood Baptist for which she was a member for more than 50 years. In later years she was involved in the knitting group at the church for which she would crochet hundreds of stocking caps for the homeless. She was always involved in helping others.
