Six seniors in the Lee’s Summit School District were recently named January Optimist Students of the Month by the Lee’s Summit Breakfast Optimist Club. The club honors six seniors each month for outstanding scholarship and citizenship.

Lee’s Summit North High School – Brianne Herriott, daughter of Kathy and Doug Herriott, is active in Bronco Smart, Future Business Leaders of America, Eco Club, National Honor Society, swimming and music. She plans to attend college to pursue a degree in medicine.

Dylan Jensen, son of Patty and Jerry Jensen, is active in basketball, baseball and National Honor Society. He plans to attend Swarthmore College in Philadelphia, Penn. and play baseball.

Lee’s Summit High School – Rebecca Brooks, daughter of Paula and Charles Brooks, has been active in band, drumline, symphony orchestra, musicals, robotics, National Honor Society, Skills USA and tiger mentoring. She plans to complete a degree in chemical engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Logan Ewigman, son of Janelle and David Ewigman, has been active in National Honor Society, robotics, student senate, soccer, swimming and tennis. He plans to pursue a degree in engineering at Missouri Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo.

Lee’s Summit West High School – Lyndsey Thornhill, daughter of Kim and Steve Thornhill, is active in debate and forensics, musical, color guard, National Honor Society and the A-plus program. She plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. to obtain a teaching degree.

Ethan Bonderer, son of Cindy Huff and Joe Bonderer, is active in National Honor Society and the A-plus program. He plans on attending University of Missouri-Columbia to pursue a degree in engineering.
