A 16-year-old has been taken into custody in connection with a rape of a young girl at Raytown Middle School in late February.

The charges include forcible sodomy and forcible rape, according to the office of the Juvenile Officer of the 16th Judicial Circuit.

Law enforcement officers took the 16-year-old into custody Monday, and he is being detained in the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center pending further hearings.

A detention hearing will be held Thursday to determine whether the juvenile will continue to be held in secure detention.

Due to the nature of the charges filed, pursuant to Missouri law, a hearing will be held later to determine whether the juvenile will be tried as an adult.  A pre-trial hearing on the transfer matter is scheduled for May 9.
