The Missouri Mavericks are introducing a special ticket exchange program for season-ticket holders.

Team president and general manager Brent Thiessen said the new program will allow individuals the opportunity to exchange tickets for the 2013-14 season they will not be able to use. It is already attracting a lot of attention.

“We've already sold a couple of season tickets – by word of mouth – because of this program,” Thiessen said Wednesday morning at the Independence Events Center. “When your kids are involved in sports, like my kids are, and you know you cannot attend a certain game, you can exchange those tickets.

“All you have to do is let us know three days in advance, and you can exchange your season ticket or tickets for tickets for a future game. All we ask is that you give us three days notice.

“If you're out of town for work, if you are sick over a lengthy period of time, you can now exchange your tickets and not have to pay for games you will not be able to attend. We're really excited about this program and so are the fans we have talked to this week in the office.”

Thiessen added that the program will not work for fans who attempt to exchange tickets after a game they miss.

“We wish we could help fans who miss a game, and don't have the three-day period to make the exchange,” he said, “but we have a limited number of tickets to work with because most of our home games are sellouts.”

The process to exchange the tickets will involve filling out a form on the Mavericks’ website. Specific redemption dates will be announced following the release of the 2013-14 CHL schedule and there will be a minimum of one redemption date per month.

“We believe the best value in pro sports in Kansas City just got better,” Thiessen said. “We listened to our season ticket holders and worked very hard to introduce this program with the limited inventory we have to work with.”

n The Mavericks will host a Select-A-Seat Open House for prospective season ticket buyers from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Events Center.

Fans will receive a free tote bag filled with more than $25 in restaurant coupons from the Mavericks' partners – including a coupon for a free small pizza at Papa John’s – and be able to look at available season ticket locations for the upcoming season.

Fans can get a free T-shirt with a $10 purchase at the Top Shelf Team Store. The Mavericks will also host a drawing for a game-worn jersey for all fans who come to the event.

Mac, the Mavericks' mascot, and defenseman Dave Pszenyczny will also be on hand signing autographs and taking pictures. Mac will be available from 2-3 p.m. and Pszenyczny will be on hand for the entire event.

New season-ticket holders who have already placed their deposits with the Mavericks can select their seats between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. Fans can also reserve their spot to select their season ticket locations with a $50 non-refundable deposit by calling the Mavericks office at 816-252-7825.
