BMX/Cycling
* Blue Springs Night Bike Ride, June 12 starting at Centennial Pool-Plex. A group bike ride through the streets of Blue Springs. It is not time and riders may go at their own pace. All ages welcome. Choose between 14- and 19-mile routes. Ride starts at 11:30 p.m. at Centennial. Roads will be marked and police officials will monitor intersections with volunteers at turn points. Cost is $20 per person through June 1 and pre-registration includes a T-shirt. After June 1, cost is $25 and riders are not guaranteed a shirt. Lee’s Summit Parks & Recreation’s 9th annual Tour de Lakes bike ride, June 26 at 7 a.m. The ride, which honors the memory of Tom Logan, a longtime Lee’s Summit resident and avid bike rider, includes three courses that encompass five area lakes throughout Grandview, Kansas City, Lee’s Summit, and Blue Springs. Tour de Lakes starts at the Longview Recreation Center located at View High and Third Street in Lee’s Summit – near New Longview. There is a short, 10-mile ride that encircles Longview Lake. A slightly longer 30-mile ride includes Longview Lake and Raintree Lake. The longest course is 63 miles and tours Longview Lake, Raintree Lake, Lakewood, Blue Springs Lake and Lake Jacomo (distances may vary). Registration fees are $25 for participants age 14 or older and $20 for ages 13 and younger. Guaranteed T-shirt and goodie bag if registered by June 13. After June 23, fees increase to $30 and $25. Metro Junior Girls Summer Golf League is now registering players. Girls ages 14-17 are eligible and league size is limited to a maximum of 48 girls. Girls play nine holes twice a week at the following area courses: Adams Pointe Golf Club, Country Club of Blue Springs, Drumm Farm Golf Club, Lakewood Oaks Golf Club, Longview Par-3 Golf Course and Drumm Farm Executive Par-3 Course. 2010 PGA Women’s Golf Expo, June 2, at Tiffany Greens Golf Club in Kansas City (near KCI airport). In conjunction with the National Women’s Golf Week (June 1-7), the Midwest Section PGA, with Play Golf America, will host this event, which kicks off with the Pro-Lady AM Tournament, followed by an afternoon of demonstrations and hands-on clinics presented by manufacturers of ladies golf clubs, a ladies-only fashion trunk show and keynote speaker Suzy Whaley. Missouri Women’s Golf Association is now taking registrations for its MWGA 50th Junior Amateur Championship, June 9-10 at Creekmoor Golf Club in Raymore, Mo. Ages through 17 and 18-year-old high school senior girls graduating in the summer are eligible. Players must reside in state of Missouri or Johnson County, Kan., for at least 60 days prior to the first day of the event. Tournament will be a 36-hole stroke-play format and USGA rules apply. 20th Annual Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Summer Youth Tennis Program now taking registrations for this instructional program.
