Two big innings kept the Truman baseball team undefeated.

The Patriots scored three runs in the fourth inning and five in the fifth for an 8-2 victory at Winnetonka Friday.

Tommie Harris pitched the opening five innings for the victory. Brian Read worked the final two. They combined for a seven-hitter.

Tanner Burkett singled twice with two RBIs and Josh Felz and Zach Sharp each had a RBI double in pacing a nine-hit Truman attack.

“It was good win to end the first week,” said coach John Eglich as Truman improved to 3-0.

Girls Soccer

Grain Valley 7, Summit Christian Academy 0

Devan Fairfield was too much for Summit Christian Academy.

She scored three goals and assisted on three others to pace Grain Valley to a 7-0 girls soccer victory at Summit Christian Academy Friday.

“We played extremely well tonight,” coach Aleana Balistreri said. “They played consistent throughout the entire game and kept pressuring the SCA keeper. We kept looking for goals and our shots definitely connected.

“Fairfield played a significant part in almost every goal scored. It was a great end to a big first week of the season.”

Ashley Bundren and  Maddie Gangl each scored one goal and assisted on another. Kali Carson and Erika Santulli each scored a goal.

Keepers Chelsey Wilson and Darby Sharfenkamp each made two saves in sharing the shutout.
