Enrollment is continuing for the elementary supervision program in the Lee’s Summit School District. Families have the opportunity to enroll their children in a number of before and after school care options, including a new program that offers student supervision on the district’s late-start Wednesdays.
Beginning with the 2012-13 school year, the new program, known as SummitRise, will be available on Wednesday mornings at no cost to families with elementary-age children. The district calendar now includes weekly time for structured teacher collaboration with each Wednesday beginning one hour late.
On the late-start Wednesdays, buses will run one hour later than normal with all classes beginning one hour later. Teachers will report to work at their regular time and will work together to evaluate students’ learning needs and develop strategies to meet these needs.
SummitRise will be managed through the district’s Before and After School Services Department or Kids Country program.
