n Coach Scott Hillman announced the return of popular defenseman Blake Forsyth and the signing of former Evansville IceMen all-star forward Brian Bicek.

n The Central Hockey League team announced a partnership with KMBZ 1660 AM, the Kansas City-based radio station that will broadcast all 66 regular-season games live with no tape delays. Bob Rennison will return to the broadcast booth for his fourth year of calling Mavs action.

n Following its Independence tradition, the Mavericks unveiled their new team slogan: "Give M Hell," which is a take-off of Independence's favorite son and former President Harry Truman's famous, "Give 'em hell," comment.

n The home opener will be Nov. 3 against a yet-to-be named opponent.

n Fan Fest will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Events Center. It will feature many activities, including a Red Cross Blood Drive.

n The team will hold an "Inside Dinner Series," with the Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday in September. It will feature a dinner followed by a strategy session in the locker room.
