Charges are pending in a three-car wreck Wednesday evening on northbound Interstate 470 half a mile south of the Little Blue River, the area just south of the I-70/I-470 intersection.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it happened at 6:15 p.m. Traffic slowed, and a 2008 Chevrolet driven by Anthony L. Orlando, 84, of Lee’s Summit, struck a 1996 Toyota from behind. The Toyota, driven by Elizabeth M. Brawdy, 17, of Independence, then struck a 1999 Ford Mercury from behind.

Orlando was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center with moderate injuries. His car, the Chevrolet, had extensive damage.

A 16-year-old female passenger in the Toyota suffered minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene of the wreck.
