Several area high school students fared well in recent speech and debate events. Here is a rundown of how those students placed.

Raytown High School
The Raytown High School Speech and Debate team recently competed in the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference Tournament. The team placed third overall in the competition. The following students received individual awards.
Congressional debate – Claire Robison, second place; Blake Shepheard, third place and Jackson Bonifeld, fourth place.
Dramatic interpretation – Carl Hayter Sirls, third place and Erica Bess, fifth place.
U.S. extemporaneous speaking – Paige Keeton, fourth place.
Oration - Emma Givens, fourth place.
Lincoln-Douglas debate – Josh Ethridge, fourth place and Samantha Causey, fifth place.
Public forum debate – Paige Keeton and Cory McAlister, fourth place.
International extemporaneous speaking – Josh Ethridge, fourth place and Lilli Rodriguez, sixth place.
Policy debate – Jackson Bonifield and Claire Robinson, fifth place.
