Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation will host its first Lemon Run Kansas City 5K Run/Walk and Kids' Dash on Sunday.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation will host its first Lemon Run Kansas City 5K Run/Walk and Kids' Dash on Sunday.

The event will be held at 8 a.m. at Waterfall Park, 4501 South Bass Pro Drive in Independence. 

The event will bring together athletes of all types, community members, childhood cancer heroes and all supporters of the battle against childhood cancer for a fun-filled morning to raise funds and awareness.

Those interested in participating can register for $25 per person and $10 per child prior to Friday, September 30.

The registration cost on the day of the event is $30 and $15 respectively. There is also a $15 student rate.

Among the volunteers on Sunday will be the Blue Springs South High School softball team and coaches. A student of BSS and friend of the team is currently battling leukemia.  
The day's festivities will also include various forms of entertainment, music and guest speakers. Awards will be given to the fastest male and female runners in various age groups. There will also be a Kids' Dash with prizes.

Check-in the day of the event begins at 6:30 a.m., and the Kids' Dash will start at 8 a.m. with the 5K Run/Walk following at 8:30 a.m.
