The sophomore allowed two infield singles, struck out 13, singled twice and hit a two-run homer to lead Truman to a 7-1 victory over St. Joseph Central on Wednesday.

“Paige did a really good job on the mound,” Truman coach Amy Temples said. “We’re starting to swing the bats a little better.”

Truman (18-6, 8-1) collected 12 hits. Emily Davis had two doubles and a single, Olivia Brown a two-run single and Dani Monaco a triple.

Truman is assured of at least a tie for its second consecutive conference title with a home victory over North Kansas City on Friday.

PARK HILL SOUTH 15, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 2: A nine-run second inning carried host Park Hill South to the Suburban Middle Six victory.

Chrisman (2-21, 0-11) was held to four hits. Losing pitcher Reba Atchley singled twice and Merina Thomas doubled.
