Look at Wesley Ekstrand of Independence.
The 7-year-old is on YouTube, offering his own parody of the popular Comedy Central show Tosh.0.
That was a little over a week ago, and 24,401 people had viewed the precocious kid in glasses by Monday.
“People are pretty amazed that that many people have viewed it in a week’s time,” his father, Mark, said last week. “I think it’s pretty funny.”
Wesley’s interest in YouTube is much like his siblings – Luke, 9, and Emery, 5.
“They wanted to be on YouTube, so we came up with something,” Ekstrand said. “It was something fun to do on a snow day.”
The videos are located on the Ekstrands’ video channel, www.youtube.com/user/xtrand3. The channel is actually called Get Out of My Room.
The first video was a kind of public service message about underage drinking. About 450 people have viewed it. The second video was the parody of Tosh.0, and it’s currently on Tosh’s website.
Tosh himself wasn’t very … um, kind.
“A lot of people said they thought Tosh was a little harsh on Wesley, but I didn’t think so,” his father said. “It’s all in good fun.”
About the show itself, Ekstrand said his son has never seen it, nor has he seen his own video on the show.
“He’s never seen the show,” Ekstrand said. “It’s not really for him, a kid his age. He’d just heard about it and thought it would be fun.”
The third was a parody of Conan O’Brien’s new show on TBS. Filmed in Wesley’s bedroom against backdrops and near-professional lighting, approximately 4,109 people have so far viewed it.
“We don’t know if Conan will recognize it,” Mark said. “He’s a much bigger fish.”
On Sunday, the Ekstrand family posted yet another video – and it’s quite appropriate: Snowmageddon.
